Q: What is the Monbukagakusho Research Scholarship and how do I apply?

Ok, if you are still in this stage and, hopefully, looking for a scholarship to sponsor your studies in Japan, the first step is to inquire at the nearest Japanese embassy (or consulate general) about more information.

Q: Does this eBook also prepares for the Monbukagakusho Technical Scholarship?

No, only for the Monbukagakusho Research Scholarship.

Q: Could I receive the MEXT scholarship even though my current university isn't famous?

Yes.

Q: After reading the eBook, is it guaranteed that I will get the Monbukagakusho Research Scholarship?

The eBook will guide you towards a better understanding of what kind of applicants MEXT is looking for, will help you taking action towards building a solid resume, aid you in contacting potential Japanese supervisors and in preparing your research plan, among many others. It does not guarantee 100% that you will be able to get it, as it depends on your own efforts towards the preparation and interview. However, it does help maximizing your chances.

Q: I do not have any research and development background, can I still get the scholarship?

Yes, although having previous research and development experiences are highly recommended.

Q: I am currently a university student (second year), should I wait till the last year to start my preparation?

No, the sooner the better. The whole preparation ranges from initial steps towards research during college up to the very last interview at a Japanese embassy or consulate general (Embassy Recommendation); at a university in Japan (Domestic Selection), for self-financed students already in Japanese universities; or at your current university of enrollment (University Recommendation), if holding exchanging agreements with a Japanese university.

Q: The Monbukagakusho selection process will start next month, what can I still gain from this eBook?

At this point, the eBook will guide you on how to browse and search for suitable Japanese universities and laboratories, including an exclusive list of universities with high acceptance of Monbukagakusho applicants, on how to efficiently contact prospect Japanese supervisors, on how to create a proper research proposal, will prepare you for important and common questions during the interview, among many others.

Q: Does the eBook also guides the application done via University Recommendation?

The eBook is more directed to those applying through Embassy Recommendation, although those applying via University Recommendation and Domestic Selection also gain from this eBook.
